The College is too small to be able to offer the full sporting programme traditional in South African Secondary Schools. Nevertheless, we acknowledge the importance of structured physical activity for the development of the child and provide opportunities for each student to participate. We recognise also the importance of structured cultural opportunities and providing these is also a priority.
All students are required to participate in one sporting or physical activity and one cultural or intellectual activity each week. Absence from these commitments is regarded in the same light as absence from a class.
A full-sized sports field is under construction.
The activities offered vary from term to term but they include:
Chess and other Board Games
Students are instructed in the basics and competition is keen.
Choir
The choir sings for enjoyment, under an experienced conductor, and works towards occasional public performance. Tuition is also provided for singers who wish to participate in the National Eistedfodd.
Cricket
A second net is being built but coaching is provided at the town grounds by an outside professional. The school has a team in one of the local leagues.
Cycling
The objective is mainly recreational although students have regularly participated in the Argus and the Kremetart races.
Drama
Activities and Dram coaching in the first two terms culminate in the production of a school play in the third term.
Football
Both girls' and boys' football are available and occasional matches against other schools and groups are arranged.
Internet Cafe
Supervised Internet access is provided and students may conduct research and send and receive e-mail.
Netball
This is a very popular option among the girls and the numbers make it possible to compete regular with other schools.
Weight Training
The College possesses an exceptionally well-equipped gym, run by a very experienced instructor.
Volleyball
There are two volleyball courts and the game is offered as an alternative to netball during one term.
