Bursary Application

PURPOSE OF THE FUND
Bursaries offered are for the express purpose of assisting children from lower income groups or who find themselves in needy circumstances, for a short period of time.

HOW THE FUND WORKS
3% of annual income is re-allocated to the bursary fund. Applications are received on an annual basis. These applications are reviewed annually by an independent Bursary Committee elected by the Board of Directors. Applicants are assessed on income or need, academic merit and involvement in the school. The Bursary Committee also take into account the number of applications being received for that year. Pupils who have been at the school longer, will be given preference. All the above criteria are then used to determine the percentage of the bursary awarded so as to spread the available funds amongst the applicants. Bursaries awarded may, therefore vary from year to year.

HOW MUCH ASSISTANCE IS GRANTED
Due to the huge increase in the number of applicants, we have been forced to reduce the maximum to 25%. In exceptional cases, higher bursaries may be granted by the Bursary Committee. Bursaries are awarded on a sliding scale from 0 – 25%, based on the above criteria.

WITHDRAWAL OF BURSARIES
Parents are expected to pay their share of the fees timeously. Monthly fees to be paid by debit order on the 28th or the 4th of each month. Should the debit order be returned unpaid or should fees be unpaid for whatever reason, the bursary could be withdrawn and the full fees payable from the next month.

COMPULSORY DEBIT ORDERS
All successful bursary applicants to ensure that a debit order authorisation form has been completed and that provision is made monthly for the debit order to be processed. Bursary applicants are deemed to be unable to pay school fees quarterly or annually in advance and therefore cannot take advantage of discounts offered to parents who pay in advance. Furthermore, in terms of our contract of enrolment, it is compulsory for all parents to pay by debit order unless paying in advance, therefore all successful bursary applicants are by default expected to pay by debit order.

ASSESSMENT OF NEED
1 In order for a fair assessment to be made, all information needs to be submitted.
Incomplete applications will not be considered. All sections to be completed in full and all supporting documentation certified and attached.  The Bursary committee may request an interview at your place of residence should further assessment be required.
